Recorly respects intellectual property rights and complies with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). This page explains how to submit copyright infringement claims, our counter-notification procedure, and our content policies.
Hostao L.L.C ("Recorly," "we," "us") respects intellectual property rights and complies with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), 17 U.S.C. § 512. We take copyright infringement seriously and will respond promptly to valid notices of alleged infringement.
This policy describes how to submit a DMCA takedown notice, our counter-notification procedure, our repeat infringer policy, and general content guidelines for screen recordings.
Recorly is a platform that enables users to record their screens (video/audio), store recordings in the cloud, and share recordings via links.
Because users control what appears on their screens during recordings, uploaded content may incidentally or intentionally include third-party copyrighted material, such as copyrighted software interfaces, media playing in a browser (videos, music, images), documents, code, or creative works displayed on screen, and streaming service content.
Users are solely responsible for ensuring their recordings do not infringe third-party rights.

5. Accuracy statement — A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner.
6. Physical or electronic signature — Your physical or electronic signature.
Incomplete notices will not be processed.
Upon receiving a valid DMCA notice:
Acknowledgment: We will acknowledge receipt within 2 business days.
Review: We will review the notice for completeness and apparent validity.
Action: If valid, we will disable access to the identified content, notify the user who uploaded the content, and forward (redacted) notice details to the uploader.
Timeline: We aim to complete this process within 10 business days of receiving a complete notice.
If you believe your content was removed in error (e.g., you have authorization, fair use applies, or the notice was erroneous), you may submit a Counter-Notification under 17 U.S.C. § 512(g).
Your counter-notification must include:
1. Identification of removed material — Description and former URL of the removed content.
2. Statement under penalty of perjury — That you have a good faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
3. Your contact information — Full name, address, phone number, and email.
4. Consent to jurisdiction — A statement consenting to the jurisdiction of the Federal District Court for the judicial district in which you reside (or Wyoming if outside the US).

Send counter-notifications to: grievance@recorly.com Subject: DMCA Counter-Notification — [Recording ID or URL]
Upon receiving a valid counter-notification, we will forward it to the original complainant. If the complainant does not file a court action within 10–14 business days, we may restore the removed content.
In accordance with 17 U.S.C. § 512(i), Recorly maintains a repeat infringer policy:
• Users who receive 2 or more valid DMCA takedowns within a 12-month period will have their accounts permanently terminated • We maintain records of infringement notices associated with each account • In egregious cases (e.g., accounts clearly set up for infringement), we may terminate on the first notice • Terminated accounts are not eligible for refunds for unused subscription periods
Submitting a false or misleading DMCA notice or counter-notification is illegal. Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), any person who knowingly materially misrepresents that material is infringing, or that material was removed by mistake or misidentification, may be liable for damages, including costs and attorneys' fees.
Do not submit a DMCA notice if you are not the copyright owner or authorized representative, or if you do not genuinely believe infringement has occurred.
